BUILDING SECTOR IN EUROPE

Currently, most of European buildings are not energy-efficient, relying on fossil fuels for heating and cooling, using old technologies and wasteful appliances. They are also hard-to-decarbonise, with very low energy renovation rates, hence risking substantial delays in achieving the EU reduction targets. Moreover, these buildings are likely to account for 80% of housing stock in 2050, and hence are in need of sustainable solutions in order to meet heating and cooling demands.

THE CORE ACTIVITY OF FIT4MICRO

Is to design a technology that will guarantee an improvement in energy efficiency rates of existing buildings, through the reduction of energy consumption and the replacement of fossil fuels with biofuels.
