Activities
The scientific and technical work of Fit4Micro is divided into 8 main work packages. The technological project activities will develop a hybrid microCHCP Micro Turbine unit reaching TRL-5, running on sustainable liquid biofuels. In addition to the technological work, the project also includes specific activities on socio-economic and environmental sustainability, public perception of the Fit4Micro solution and the regulatory framework and policies.
PROJECT COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT
BIOFUEL PRODUCTION AND SUPPLY
FLAMELESS COMBUSTION FOR LIQUID FUELS DEVELOPMENT AND HIGH TEMPERATURE MATERIAL ASSESSMENT
Project activities of this work package will be focused on: determination of long-term stable, high-temperature, oxidation-resistant materials for the combustion chamber and turbine wheels. Development of optimized liquid fuel atomizers and flameless combustors for the use of liquid biofuels. Conduction of a detailed experimental test campaign to evaluate the performance of the new combustors.
IRRGT HUMIDIFIED MICRO GAS TURBINE
This work package is focused on the development of a very high efficiency two-stage microturbine implementing a novel Intercooled Regenerative Reheat Gas Turbine thermodynamic cycle. The microturbine will be coupled to a humidification technique to further enhance the thermodynamic efficiency and increase the flexibility of the heat/power ratio.
INTEGRATED HYBRID TRIGENERATION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION
This work package aims ay defining 4 use cases of the Fit4Micro solution. In particular, activities will concern the development of robust and efficient control strategies, together with the testing of a system demonstrator for the two most promising use cases.
LCA, SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT AND PUBLIC PERCEPTANCE
Analysis and determination of the environmental sustainability performance of the microCHCP system fueled with HPO and of the socio-economic impact of the Fit4Micro technology on the society. Determination of the public acceptance of the mGT based microCHCP system together with the analysis of the gender impact assessment for the microCHCP system.
POLICY, MARKET ASSESSMENT, TEA & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Analysis and identification of relevant policy regulations that will impact development and exploitation of the Fit4Micro technology; assessment of current and future markets impacting the microCHCP sector and the uptake of the innovative solution in the coming years; development of the business case for the hybrid microCHCP system.
